Poppy Dreams

I think one of the most profound revelatory experiences we have is when something stops our attentions and we become aware of the present, the self, and the world around us. This self-portrait attempts to translate a time that comes before that moment of revelation – a journey itself, filled with imminent struggles and impending chaos that tips everything off balance.
Symbolically this painting represents a subconscious mind that anticipates something unknown to take place – a long awaited awakening.

I edited this painting recently. I like it better now
